Next week we are studying zoo animals. Please send a shoebox or a small cardboard box with your child by Thursday, April 10th. We will be making (zoo) animal habitats in them for science on Thursday and Friday. Thanks!
In kindergarten, we have been working on writing nonfiction "how to" books. We have been working hard on writing books about how to blow a bubble with bubble gum. Last week we had a day to chew bubble gum in writing workshop time and actually try blowing bubbles. After we learned how to blow a bubble, we wrote our books. This week we finished up the final touches of our book and made our art projects to go along with our book. Great job kids! Below are pictures of some of our students who blew bubbles in class. I think there were a couple more students that blew a bubble but I couldn't get there quick enough to take a picture.
Today we had grandparents, parents and special friends come into school to play bingo, read and visit the book fair with us!
This week our class won the lunchroom trophy which is an award for good behavior in the lunchroom. In order to receive this award, our class used manners while in line to get food, at the tables while they were eating, as well as lining up after lunch was done. Great job to our class along with Mrs. Wardner's first grade class who has lunch with us each day..
Q and U Wedding...
Our Kindergarten Queens and Quarterbacks...Today we filled finished filling 10 numbers in a row on our number chart which means we got to have a celebration! The students can earn numbers as a class throughout the day. Most of our numbers are earned in the hallway, lunchroom, or specials such as gym or music.
What an exciting day of school we had today! The kids were so excited to share the posters they made at home. We had different counting and math activities throughout the day and we even wrote about what we would do if we had $100. It was a fun and energetic day in kindergarten.
This week was a week about hats. We learned about different kinds of hats. We also made our own hats and went on a hat parade around the other kindergarten rooms.
On Tuesday, we made dinosaur eggs by using paper mache and balloons. A special thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to come and get their hands messy with the paper mache. As I told them, these kids are busy making memories.
Throughout the week, we built a nest for our eggs and we read to them and took care of our dinosaur eggs. On Friday, our eggs hatched and we found out what kind of dinosaur was growing in the egg all week. A huge thank you to the parents who were able to come into the classroom on Tuesday to help us make the dinosaur eggs!! This week we learned about penguins. We talked about emperor, king, chinstrap, and rockhopper penguins. We also talked about the little blue penguin.
